A Pair of Detentions in the Aftermath of London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

This incident caused the partial shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

An additional two individuals have been arrested in connection with a theft at London's Heathrow Airport where 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be pepper spray, as stated by police.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, the force said.

The arrests follow a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the incident, two women had stolen from them their luggage upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was among the injured in the event. Five people were taken to the hospital for medical care and have since been discharged.

Police detained a man in his thirties for suspected theft and assault near the scene. He was subsequently released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Police were alerted at about 08:10 GMT following reports of several people injured by an irritating chemical believed to be pepper spray.

The attack - an event that authorities stated was isolated and not being treated as terrorism - caused delays to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 parking facility briefly.
