Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot including celestial beings, evil spirits, and malevolent powers growing in power within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Key plot points for the third episode of the new season are included.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The third episode ended with a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of heroes who will split off from the main group to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor Pridesire (played by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.
What Defines the Combat Party
As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where diplomatic options are rare.
At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem out of place, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise initiated the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The traitor then paid off his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, desires retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
- Tyranny and The healer, having defied his house’s orders to kill the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their position as key figures in the influential clan could help the party reach areas they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The fighter vowed a life debt to The savior for his salvation and will now accompany him wherever.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule the setting for a multiple motives, making staying in the city too risky:
- The rogue and The character are known criminals.
- The strong figure and Wicander defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The target is marked for death by the family.
This means them few options but to head to the northern region in pursuit of the traitor.
